Managed to do everything that i have planned to do today

romm was quick & easy. Took a number, went to counter to verify our documents (IC & marriage prep certs), dad went in first to meet the kadi, the mr and i went in after that. We took turns to take our oath. That was a bit funny at first. I tried to hide my giggles. Hehehe.

And then reality hit me hard. In less than a month, akan lepas segala tanggungjawab my dad towards me. And i started tearing *sniffles* emosi pagi jumaat tau…..

Our conversations tend to center on our wedding plans past few weeks. Honestly, i cant wait for this to be over soon cos hearing ‘dear, _________ dah siap/settle/confirm/buat appt/etc?’ can get exciting, exhilirating, adrenaline pumping, frustrating, irritating all jumbled into one.

Oh Allah, give me strength.

Empat minggu lagi *gasp*

Four more weeks to go. I’ve been a good girl. Been using minimal make up. Most days, none at all.

Been trying to stay calm as much as possible. Cos worry lines, frowns, stress etc will show, no matter how thick the make up.

We’ll be going to romm sometime this week. Since i’ll be taking the day off, i hope to make full use of the day to prep for the nikah. Shall paint my door frame, perhaps.

Be meeting the deco for nikah tomorrow.

I think i should send baju nikah for dry cleaning next week

happiness is doing what one is supposed to do

Many things make me happy. The simple things in life keep me going.

One of the things that make me happy is money. Yes, sounds very superficial. True that money can bring about happiness and provide the needs of your loved ones. However, I’m not talking about having tonnes and truckloads of money. Tak boleh bawa masuk kubur pun.

Then what?

The thing about money and happiness is the knowledge that i’m in control of my finances. Financial awareness & free of any debt that is beyond my budget *alhamdulillah* – those are the things pertaining money that make me happy. Rezeki yang berkat. It’s not at all about having duit berpuluh atau beratus ribu.

Happiness is when i’ve paid up my credit card bills and have set aside money for savings & other payments. Alhamdulillah. No hutang yang akan menjerat diri. Working towards good financial health. I’m still learning

And that’s why i’m happy today cos i’ve paid up my credit card bills for the month. Happy that i know exactly how much money i may spend on myself (not that much, by the way. tapi tetap bersyukur dengan apa yang ada. alhamdulillah) & need not worry whether i have overspent. Alhamdulillah. I pray it stays that way.

The onset of migraine. Tulah… spent the entire day facing the laptop screen. Apa taknya. Tentulah mata, tengkuk dan back of my kepala sakit and dah mula berdenyut-denyut….

we have done 2 things the marriage prep course and the romm registration

the course was conducted by suChi success. awesome package. based on the notes, somewhat different from bersamamu that my sisters attended. i’m in no position to compare cos i didnt attend bersamamu. sedap food cos it was freshly cooked. masjid-cooked. from the kuali straight to the buffet table. yum yum! beats factory catered food anytime. hands down.

now that we have settled the major ones, time to focus on the small things.

today, we

1. went through our budget and looked at the packages that we have signed up to check that we are both on the same page, arrangement wise, and check-check-recheck that we have not missed anything out.

2. made the first draft of our flow of events for the nikah.

Filing

Dont feel like posting anything about the wedding. It’s getting boring. Making full use of the day off, i kemas kini my filing in the morning.

3 files.

1 for everything insurance
1 for all things related to the wedding budget
and 1 for all my banking matters (savings, debit card, credit card etc).
Like my dad, i’m anal about filing such documents.

5 km run didnt go too well altho it was expected. Cos i havent been doing any form of regular exercise for a couple of months.

Short term goal – to fit into baju raya tahun lepas.

Feb ’12 goal – shed off some 4 or 5 kg +/-

Mum and i met up with the sanding caterer yesterday. deposit has been made. lets all doa that things will go smoothly as planned. amin.

two different menus for saturday’s dinner and sunday’s lunch receptions. the usual nasi + lauk combi with rojak, noodles and desserts. inclusive of all the logistics and set up.

deco/ra/ma + noza have been working together for so long, i hope everything goes well in terms of set up and logistics. Since noza dah biasa cater for 2000-4000 guests, we have a good feeling that we can trust them with everything, insya allah. tak cerewet.

the hiccups that i can foresee will be the availability of seats for the guests on sunday. we might need to add on more tables and chairs to seat 300 or 400 at any one time (depending on our venue). and i will need some help from my former students to assist the guests in finding available seats for them. so can free up my parents/aunts/uncles to sambut tetamu. to be honest, we have an estimated 2000+++ guests for the lunch reception on sunday.

up next: an appointment with the kendarat which is highly recommended by our caterer.

things are moving. so are the dollar signs. reminding self not to spend anymore on frivolous wants.

money to set aside for the items that i need to spend on:

1. ring for him
2. barang-barang for dulang hantaran
3. kain for baju nikah
4. kasut
5. few more items for pelamin nikah (the cushions, turquoise cushion covers & balance for tempahan kain backdrop)
6. items for the bedroom (balance for bed frame + mattress, bed sheet set, curtains, alas meja)
7. wedding cake (ayu)
8. desserts corner for nikah (lola)
9. kain for baju bridesmaids
10.inai sanding
11.the marriage prep course (yes, masih lagi tertangguh)

plan to have simple inai yang paling basic macam pengantin klasik for the nikah.

and i think i need to take out some money from my savings account and open a new UOB savings account so that i tak ter-spend the excess money. time to stick to the budget strictly.

and a renewed azam. to jog for at least 45 minutes everyday.

6 months to the nikah. 7 months to the sanding. this is getting so real. i’m scared….

for goodness sake, what were the odds? plenty, actually. we are blessed, indeed. thank you, Allah. we were first-time applicants. the bto was seven times over subscribed. imagine: 5 room units: 2300 applications for 320 units… and our queue is #18 *glee*

**my youngest sis and her tunang applied but they didnt get through. fret not. cos we are sure there is a better location which is perfect for abbas and iffah. somewhere out there. cos He knows best

Our first major purchase

We have bought our first major purchase. The bed! *glee* a Simmons. The Simmons.

I remember the very first time i sat on one. It was two years ago at sidah’s wedding. And, oh boy, i was sold. I knew it, right there and then, that Simmons would be the one for us

The mr loves it too we have tried out the mattresses at several simmons stores and one particular range kept popping up in our ‘like’ list – glendale. It is an old model, true. But it has a proven track record and one of the best selling in the beautyrest range. There were of course newer models, latest whats not. No matter what, we tried not to be distracted or lured by ‘new’ or ‘latest’ cos no matter what, the latest model will not be latest after all by the time it’s delivered to us in january 2012. It’s about the mattress that suits us best. The one which shouts out to us “Yo! Pick me!” we found it in glendale

Since simmons will increase the price of its mattresses in june, and even with the discounted gss promotions, the price will still be higher than the current offer, we figured out that it was economically wise to purchase one that very day. Especially when we already knew which model we wanted.

My mini achievement for the day i have finally filed up and organised my bills, bank statements, insurance, investments etc in a file for quick and easy reference *yeay*

that should be somewhere in september/october.

and oh! have i mentioned that the mr is already back for good in sg? yes? no?

oh bliss no more long distance, no more checking of schedules, booking bus tics, bad internet connection etc.
